Hack the System

I used to think my fight was with everything outside of me. Corporate. The education system. The government. Whatever structure was standing between me and the life I wanted — I was ready to go to war with it.

Then I lost my job, and the fight changed.

I realized the system I actually needed to hack wasn't out there. It was in me — the beliefs I'd absorbed about what I deserved, what was possible, who got to win and who didn't. That's the system that had me in chains, and no amount of fighting the outside world was going to touch it.

I used to fight the power, fists in the air. Now I fight my reflection, healing, and prayer. The system outside can't hold me in chains — I'm hacking my mind, I'm rewriting the pain.

This was the first song I ever released. Before Love Notes. Before For Lover Girls. Before I even knew this was going to become a whole body of work. It was just me, freshly job-less, realizing the real revolution starts with the reflection in the mirror.
